Notice of Data Security Incident

James C. Standring, D.D.S. is providing notice of a data security incident that may have involved the personal information of certain current and former patients. On September 2, 2024, we became aware of unauthorized access to certain systems containing personal information. Upon discovering the incident, we immediately secured the affected systems, engaged independent cybersecurity and forensic experts to investigate, and notified law enforcement. We have also implemented additional security measures to help prevent similar incidents in the future. The information that may have been involved varies by individual and may have included one or more of the following: name, address, email address, Social Security number, driver's license or state identification number, financial account or payment card information, medical information, health insurance information, and other personal information maintained by our practice. Not every individual had every type of information involved. Although we are not aware of any confirmed misuse of personal information resulting from this incident, affected individuals are encouraged to remain vigilant by reviewing financial accounts, insurance statements, and medical records for suspicious activity and promptly reporting any unauthorized activity to the appropriate financial institution, healthcare provider, law enforcement, and our office.
